Barrie Women’s Hockey Association Statement on Vaccines:
At their meeting of August 30, 2021 the BWHA's Board of Directors unanimously endorsed the following important message to be shared with all members and tryouts registrants:
In order to best ensure the health and safety of our players, coaches, officials and volunteers the BWHA strongly encourages all who are eligible to get a Covid-19 vaccine. Given the quickly changing circumstances in Ontario related to the Covid-19 pandemic and emerging vaccine mandates from governments, businesses, and other organizations (including some hockey associations), we think there is a good chance that vaccines could become required to play hockey at some point this season (with exceptions for health and religious reasons, of course). Therefore, while vaccines are not currently required by the OWHA or BWHA to register for our programs, we would strongly encourage all players 12 years-old and above to carefully consider the above information when deciding whether to register for hockey this season. Full refunds will be made available to any players who wish to withdraw before the season begins.

The City of Barrie’s Covid-19 protocols must be followed by all players, volunteers and parents at all times. This includes completing the City’s Covid-19 Screening Tool before each trip to the arena by visiting http://play.barrie.ca. Parents are permitted to watch tryouts (1 parent per skater) but must follow all Covid-19 protocols and directions from arena staff. (Note: Parents will not be permitted to enter Eastview Arena for any tryout sessions, do to the limited size and layout of this facility.)
