Annual General Meetings


As defined by the Bylaws of the Barrie Women's Hockey Association, an Annual General Meeting of the members is held, typically in May following the end of each season. The date, time, and location will be posted here, once arrangements for the next Annual General Meeting have been finalized. Annual General Meeting Agenda:

The agenda for each Annual General Meeting, as defined by the Bylaws:

  • Minutes of Previous Meeting
  • Financial Statement / Accountants Report
  • President’s Report
  • Report from Board of Directors
  • Correspondence
  • New Business - Motions
  • Election of Executive Committee

Board of Director Elections:

The following positions are elected to 2-year terms, during the Annual General Meeting held in EVEN years (2020, 2022, 2024):

  • President
  • Director of Competitive Program
  • Director of Game Officials
  • Director of Adult House League
  • Treasurer
  • Director of Equipment - Competitive Program
  • Director of Tournaments

The following positions are elected to 2-year terms, during the Annual General Meeting held in ODD years (2021, 2023, 2025):

  • Director of Youth House League
  • Registrar
  • Director of Equipment - House League
  • Chief Trainer
  • Secretary
  • Director of Sponsorship and Fundraising
  • Director of Coach and Player Development

The following positions are appointed to the Board by virtue of their position - not through election:

  • Past President
  • General Manager - Barrie Jr. Sharks (non-voting)

Nominations:

The deadline to submit nominations to the BWHA office or via email to info@bwha.ca is sixty (60) days prior to Annual General Meeting. The official Nomination Form will be posted here, once arrangements for the next Annual General Meeting have been finalized. NOTE: according to the BWHA's Bylaws, nominations for Director positions CANNOT be accepted at the meeting, or after the deadline.

Motions:

Motions may be brought forward by any member for consideration and voting at the Annual General Meeting - including for changes or additions to the BWHA's Policies and Procedures manual, or for amendments to the Bylaws. NOTE: according to the BWHA's Bylaws, new motions CANNOT be accepted at the meeting, or after the deadline. The deadline to submit motions or items for new business to the BWHA office or via email to info@bwha.ca is thirty (30) days prior to AGM. The official Notice of Motion Form will be posted here, once arrangements for the next Annual General Meeting have been finalized.
