|Note: Each year, the OWHA will announce the eligibility period for Permission to Skate forms - once this date is announced, the BWHA will post information here for when Permission to Skate Forms will be issued.|
OWHA Rules define the conditions that must be met in order for a player to participate in practices or tryouts with an association other than their own:
OWHA BY-LAW ARTICLE EIGHT - Player Movement / Tryouts
(A) (1) “Permission to Skate” forms must be filled out and signed by a designated executive member of the player’s current association/team and presented to the association/team for which the player wishes to try out before she is allowed on the ice. Failure to comply will result in a minimum two (2) game suspension for the offending player and/or head coach.
Permission to Skate forms are time-limited and are valid for the specified period recorded on the form. For this season, Permission to Skate forms are valid commencing April 22, 2019 - players may not participate in any practices or tryouts with an association other than their own prior to this date.
Permission to Skate forms are required for situations such as the following:
1. A player currently registered with the Barrie Women's Hockey Association who wishes to attend a tryout session with another OWHA association will require a Permission to Skate form to be issued by the BWHA.
2. Any player who wishes to attend a tryout session with the Barrie Sharks but is currently registered with another OWHA affiliated association will require a Permission to Skate form to be issued from their current association.
3. For players currently registered with an OMHA affiliated association or team (i.e. boys hockey), eligibility is determined by the last girls hockey association they were previously registered to. Current OMHA registered players who were last registered with an OWHA affiliated association other than the Barrie Women's Hockey Association will require a Permission to Skate form issued by that association.
Non-BWHA players requiring a Permission to Skate form to attend a Barrie Sharks tryout must obtain the required form from their current association. The process for obtaining a Permission to Skate form is different for each organization - please contact your current association for more information.
Current BWHA members who require a 'Permission to Skate' must make a request to the BWHA in person (Office location and hours can be found here.) or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The request must include the:
A separate Permission to Skate form will need to be issued for each teams and/or association the player wishes to tryout for. If this applies, please provide all information in your request.
