SMGHL season wrapped up on Championship Weekend
Another successful SMGHL season has come to an end. All of our Barrie teams had a great year both on and off the ice, with many finding success at tournaments and at Championship Day.

We want to thank all the dedicated coaches and volunteers who dedicate their time to create a fun and positive environment and provide development opportunities for the players.

SMGHL Championship Weekend Recap:

 

Championship Weekend was full of excitement, great hockey, close battles and of course FUN. Saturday in Barrie saw three games go to a shootout to determine a winner!

  

U9

A Division: Barrie Green and Barrie Silver battled it out in the A Division preliminary game with Barrie Silver coming out on top and moving on to the Championship Game. Barrie Orange battled it out against Huntsville Gold in preliminaries and left everything on the ice, coming up just short. In an epic battle Barrie Silver and Huntsville Gold met in the final with Barrie Silver coming out on top and winning GOLD! 

Congratulations to the Barrie Green Team for finishing 1st overall in the regular season! 

Congratulations to the Barrie Silver Team for winning A Division GOLD on Championship Day! 

 

B Division: In the preliminaries, Huntville Black battled it out with Collingwood Blue with Huntsville nabbing the win to move on. Barrie Red also worked hard and pulled out a win over North Simcoe in their preliminary round. Hunstville Black then met Barrie Red in the finals, with Hunstville pulling off the win. 
Congratulations to the Barrie Red team for their SILVER medal in the B Division!

 

C Division: Collingwood White took the win over Orillia in the C division.

 

U11

A Division: Huntsville Black took the win over Collingwood White in preliminary play and moved on to play Collingwood Blue. Huntsville Black continued the winning through the final, winning gold, with Collingwood Blue taking home silver in a hard fought final game.

 

B Division: Barrie Green took the win over Barrie Blue in the preliminary to move on to play Huntsville Gold in the final. Barrie Green worked hard and took home the silver medal with Huntsville Gold taking the Gold in the B Championship Game.

Congratulations to Barrie Green for their SILVER medal in the B Division! 

 

C Division: Barrie Red and Silver battled it out with Barrie Silver coming out on top. 

Congratulations to Barrie Silver for winning the C Division!

 

U13

A Division: It was Collingwood vs Collingwood in the A Final! Collingwood Silver pulled out the win over Collingwood Blue to come out on top with the Gold Medal.

 

B Division: B was for Barrie as all four Barrie Teams (Green, Silver, Orange and Blue) battled out the B division resulting in the all Barrie final coming down to Green and Silver. Barrie Green pulled out the win on Sunday over Barrie Silver to win Championship Day B Gold.  

Congratulations to both teams - Barrie Green with GOLD and Barrie Silver with SILVER in the B division!

 

C Division: The Orillia Hawks pulled out a win over the Huntsville Gold team in the C division final game. 

 

U15

A Division: Both preliminary games were Huntsville vs Collingwood! Huntsville Black and Collingwood Blue moved on and battled it out in the A division final with Huntsville Black pulling out the win for gold and the SMGHL Championship. 

 

B Division: Preliminary action saw Barrie Blue beating out Barrie Orange and North Simcoe winning over Barrie silver. On Sunday Barrie Blue battled it out against North Simcoe for the win in the U15 B Division.  Congratulations to Barrie Blue for taking home the GOLD medal in B Division!   

 

C Division: Barrie Green took the win over the Orillia Hawks.

Congratulations to Barrie Green for winning the U15 C Division!

 

U18

A Division: Huntsville Gold took on Orillia Hawks and North Simcoe took on Barrie Orange in the A division preliminaries. Huntsville Gold and North Simcoe came out on top to match up for the final battle. Huntsville Gold pulled out the win to nab the gold medal to match their name. 

 

B Division: Barrie Green beat North Simcoe and Huntsville Black beat Collingwood in preliminary action. Barrie Green battled hard in the final against Huntsville Black to take home the silver medal, with gold going to Huntsville.  

Congratulations to Barrie Green for their SILVER medal in B Division! 

 

We want to wish all of those U18 players who will be moving on to the next stages in their lives all the best and thanks for being part of our Barrie Sharks family over the years.
