For BWHA players attending tryouts for another association:
OWHA Rules define the conditions that must be met in order for a player to participate in practices or tryouts with an association other than their own:
OWHA BY-LAW ARTICLE EIGHT - Player Movement / Tryouts
(A) (1) “Permission to Skate” forms must be filled out and signed by a designated executive member of the player’s current association/team and presented to the association/team for which the player wishes to try out before she is allowed on the ice. Failure to comply will result in a minimum two (2) game suspension for the offending player and/or head coach.
Permission to Skate forms are time-limited and are valid for the specified period recorded on the form. For this season, Permission to Skate forms are valid commencing April 22, 2019 - players may not participate in any practices or tryouts with an association other than their own prior to this date.
Permission to Tryout forms are required for situations such as the following:
1. A player currently registered with the Barrie Women's Hockey Association who wishes to attend a tryout session with another OWHA association will require a Permission to Skate form to be issued by the BWHA.
2. For players currently registered with an OMHA affiliated association or team (i.e. boys hockey), eligibility is determined by the last girls hockey association they were previously registered to. Current OMHA registered players who were last registered with an OWHA affiliated association other than the Barrie Women's Hockey Association will require a Permission to Skate form issued by that association.
Current BWHA members who require a Permission to Skate must complete our online request form. You will require the following information:
- player name
- date of birth
- current team and division
- association, team and level for which the player will tryout
Prior to the start of tryouts, all requests will be held until the week of April 8, 2024 before being issued - all forms will be issued no later than April 15, 2024. Once tryouts begin, all requests must be received at least 48 hours prior to the tryout the player wishes to participate in.

For Non-BWHA players attend a Barrie Sharks tryout:
Any player who wishes to attend a tryout session with the Barrie Sharks but is currently registered with another OWHA affiliated association will require a Permission to Tryout form to be issued from their current association.
